Clayton Fong is Executive Director of the Seattle-based
National Asian Pacific Center on Aging, a leading advocacy organization
of aging issues in the Asian Pacific American population. He is a zealot
innovator, combining his public service and private experiences in working
with the aging and APA community throughout the nation. He has served
as Deputy Assistant to the President for Public Liaison in the White House,
Deputy Director of the US Office of Consumer Affairs and as a marketing
and media consultant. Mr. Fong brings his political savvy, policy experience,
entrepreneurial spirit and relentless passion to the numerous projects
with which he is currently involved.

Theda McPheron-Keel is an enrolled tribal member
of the Southeastern Cherokees. She grew up learning the traditional ways
from her medicine woman grandmother. Later, she completed her R.N. degree
and became a nurse practitioner in rehabilitation. She holds additional
degrees in psychology, sociology, and biology. Recently, Theda completed
three graduate degrees in three years. She has an PhD in American Indian
Studies from the University of Arizona, an M.S. in Community Health from
the West Virginia University School of Medicine, and another MA from West
Virginia University in Applied Social Research. Her area of research is
cancer in American Indian populations. Currently, she is a Native American
Cancer Researcher trainee with the National Cancer Institute of N.I.H.
Theda, along with her husband Don, has formed the Wind Hollow Foundation.
It is a non-profit organization focusing on health, education, economic
development, and cultural issues which impact American Indians nationwide.
She is currently working towards completing her PhD in American Indian
Studies at the University of Arizona while serving as President and CEO
of the Wind Hollow Foundation.

Ms. Elba Montalvo is the Executive Director and Co-founder
of the Hispanic Children and Families, Inc. (CHCF), a New York City not-for-profit
agency. Under her direction, the Committee--now in its 15th year--has
developed a four-pronged approach to address the needs of Latino families:
community education, social services, professional training, and public
policy advocacy. The agencys Community Education program focuses
on issues such as child/abuse neglect, domestic violence, and HIV/AIDS
prevention; the Professional Training series is designed for low-income
women seeking to become state-certified family day care providers, as
well as child welfare, health and human service workers, and provides
participants with cultural strategies and service plans; the agencys
social services include Project OYE (Organizing for Youth Empowerment),
intended to prevent young people from dropping out o school. The Committee
operates the only Spanish/bilingual Child Care Resource and Referral network
in New York State. In addition, CHCFs Center for Latino Family Policy
monitors governmental services and policies, as well as promotes new initiatives
to improve the quality and quantity of services available to Latino families.

Dr. Elijah Saunders is Associate Professor of Medicine,
Head of the Division of Hypertension and Clinical Director of the Hypertension
Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland.
He also serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Meharry
Medical College in Nashville. He is Vice President for Graduate Medical
Education and Affiliations at the University of Maryland Hospital. A Fellow
of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Angiology,
Dr. Saunders has lectured extensively throughout the country and also
internationally on the subject of Hypertension, particularly as it effects
special populations such as blacks and the elderly. He is co-author of
the medical textbook, Hypertension In Blacks: Epidemiology, Pathophysiology
and Treatment, and a book for the public on High Blood Pressure. He is
Chief Editor of the textbook, "Cardiovascular Diseases in Blacks". NEXT >
