Lessons Learned about Urban Health Access

Presentation will highlight lessons learned from site visits to 10 urban communities with high percentage of families in poverty and high concentration of minority populations. The objective of the site visits was to interview, discuss and observe plans or systems designed to maintain access to care.

Thomas W. Chapman is President and Chief Executive Officer for the HSC Foundation. The HSC Foundation is the parent corporation for the Hospital for Sick Children, Health Services for Children with Special Needs, and the Special Needs Care System, Inc. It is a nonprofit corporation in the District of Columbia the mission of which is to provide for the special needs of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
  He received his MPH degree (1971) from Yale University, School of Epidemiology and Public Health and has held executive level positions in health care with The George Washington University Medical Center; Greater Southeast Healthcare System; and others organizations.
  Mr. Chapman serves on a variety of boards and committees, and serves as a consultant to health care organizations. He has received numerous awards and written articles for trade journals and business magazines, Additionally, Mr. Chapman is the National Program Officer for "Opening Doors," a program to reduce sociocultural barriers to health care sponsored by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. NEXT >
