Dan Murphy is a family physician currently practicing in Central Oregon. Following graduation from Georgetown University Medical School, Dan did his family practice residency in Merced, CA. During Dan's residency over 10,000 Southeast Asian refugees moved to Merced, a Central California town with a pre-migration population of about 30,000. Dan and his wife, Cindy, were actively involved in the Refugee Forum, an organization formed to aid with resettlement issues. Following residency, Dan spent three years working on the Morongo Indian Reservation in Southern California, repaying a Public Health Service scholarship. Subsequently, Dan spent 8 years teaching in the Merced Family Practice Residency Program, heading the program during his last four years in Merced. Dan now practices full-time family practice medicine in Redmond, Oregon, where for the first time a significant number of Spanish speaking people are seeking assistance from the local health care systems.  NEXT >
