Reports on Bilingual/Interpreter Services

Defining Competency in Medical Interpreting: The Role of the Emerging Medical Interpreting Profession in Improving Access to and Quality of Care for Patients with Limited English Proficiency.

By Michelle Roppe.

Reports on Cultural Competence

In February 1998, Resources for Cross Cultural Health Care prepared the Multicultural Health Best Practices Overview, which describes best practices in several areas of multicultural health care using summary, examples, and case studies. The full report

  1. comments on factors that facilitate or hinder the implementation and replication of best practices; and
  2. identifies gaps in knowledge about best practices, areas that require additional attention or investment, and potential directions.

Each subsection is composed of description, analysis and examples, and is immediately followed by summary recommendations that would be of relevance to funders and policymakers.

The report was prepared initially for The California Endowment, and updated in November 1999.
