DiversityRx now offers a new way to keep current and connected on cultural competence in health care.

CLAS-talk is the email discussion group sponsored by Resources for Cross Cultural Health Care and the DiversityRx website (www.diversityRx.org). Participants can raise issues, ask questions, share information and resources and network with each other around topics related to the design, delivery and evaluation of culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) in health care. You will also receive updates on new publications, policies and events related to CLAS.

Participants can use CLAS-talk to:

  • Share information about new approaches, programs, initiatives and policies related to cultural competence
  • Seek and offer advice on implementing the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in health care
  • Find support for meeting and overcoming challenges related to designing, funding, and improving cultural competence programs
  • Debate emerging practices, policies, and trends to stimulate new directions in policymaking and service implementation;
  • Explore how to document the clinical and financial benefits of culturally responsive care through evaluation and outcomes-based research.
  • Promote networking among policymakers, funders, provider organizations, and community advocates to improve culturally competent services to diverse populations.

CLAS-talk is open to anyone with an interest in these issues. If you’d like to join us as we explore these issues, send an email to the listserv moderator. Please introduce yourself and briefly describe your interest in culturally competent health care.

The listserv will operate according to standard listserv protocols, which will be sent to each participant when they are added to the membership. Each member of the listserv will receive copies of all messages sent to the list (you can receive these as individual emails or in digest form). To respond, you simply have to reply to the listserv, and all members will receive your response automatically.

    As with the rest of DiversityRx, this section is a work in progress and we welcome information on other efforts, programs, and reports that will expand upon the information offered here. Please let us know if you have other examples to include here.
