At the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)  we have gotten into the business of creating implementation tools. We finally realized that you can’t just publish research results and expect people to implement them.

Over the 25 plus years I’ve had the privilege of teaching about cultural competency and the care of diverse populations, I have learned many lessons about what works and doesn’t work in adult education. I have also received my share of positive and negative feedback.

Four years ago, when I began working at NCQA, several projects were underway to address culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) and health care disparities in racial, ethnic and linguistic minorities.
