UPAC-Elder Multicultural Access and Support Services Program

UPAC Elder Multicultural Access and Support Services (EMASS) Program is using a promotora model to reach out to unserved and underserved senior population (60 and older) from Latino, Filipino, African American and Somali (African Refugees) communities in the North, Central, and South Regions of San Diego County.  This Program is funded by the County of San Diego - Behavioral Health Services under the Mental Health Services Act- prevention and early intervention (PEI) fund.  Program Services include but not limited to: health education, translation, advocacy, peer support and counselling, and social/recreational activities.  EMASS Program goals are:  to increase access to care; reduce disparities to care; increase knowledge in health care system; increase self-sufficiency; reduce utilization of speciality care; and reduce institutionalization.
