This is a practical resource for medical providers who are confronted with basic cultural challenges presented by Native American patients living with or at risk for HIV infection. The guide provides an overview of aspects of Native American history and how this history continues to affect the health and well-being of Native Americans today in order to better explain what a medical provider can do to address cultural barriers to help empower Native American patients living with HIV. In addition to general information about the challenges posed by Native American cultural amplifiers, the guide provides specific service goals, case studies and a list of additional resources.
