This self-assessment tool is designed to suggest ways in which an agency can become culturally competent in order to better serve its clients. The scale is applicable to an agency delivering behavioral health care in an outpatient treatment environment. Implementation of cultural competency by the agency is expected to promote cultural competency in all its staff members and to create a milieu that acts to improve access and retention in treatment of persons from diverse cultural groups. This scale will help to assess cultural competency at all levels of an organization.
