Cultural Competency Curriculum for Disaster Preparedness and Crisis Response (CCC-DPCR)

This series of courses focused on disaster preparedness and crisis response focuses on training professionals so that in a disaster situation they can ensure that all people affected receive equitable, effective services in an appropriate manner. The CLAS Themes serve as the backbone for this curriculum, illustrating how seamlessly cultural competency can be woven into the preparation, response and recovery processes. The three CLAS themes can be applied to disaster preparedness and crisis response in the following manner: Culturally Competent Care, Language Access Services, Organizational Supports. Though the curriculum focuses on disaster preparedness and crisis response in general, Course 3 in the series trains professionals to meet the physical health needs and mental health needs of individuals affected by a disaster.
