These Assessment Guidelines are designed to assist human service agencies in Connecticut to design relevant and effective responses to the cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and other diversity concerns of clients utilizing services. The assessment asks individual staff members to rate the organization's cultural and linguistic competence, including the agency's use of demographic data, program accessibility, quality management and improvement, etc. Following the assessment, the guide aides organizations in the development of a Culturally Competent Plan to increase client access, client engagement in services, and client retention. Though designed for agencies in Connecticut, these guidelines have national relevance.
