How to Work Effectively with Trained Interpreters: A Training for Physicians, Residents and Medical Students

Upper Midwest Translators and Interpreters Association This toolkit contains resources for either a 1-hour or 2-hour classroom training for health care professionals. The goal of the training is to improve the participant’s communication with patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) by learning techniques for working effectively with interpreters. This toolkit includes a Facilitator's Guide, a PowerPoint presentation with facilitator notes, and sample handouts for participants, and suggestions for supplementary content. The material is designed to be modified based on the trainers intended audience.
