In 2008, NYU piloted a new required course with 14 one hour meetings devoted to culture and psychiatry for third year psychiatry residents. This curriculum was informed by a study sponsored by the Group for Advancement of Psychiatry's Cultural Committee, as well as the American Psychiatric Association/Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Minority Fellowship Program. This website includes the course schedule for this course, a PowerPoint presentation summarizing the findings from the national study of teachers of culture and psychiatry and preliminary results from an evaluation of the NYU curriculum, course readings and cases used in the 2008 NYU curriculum in Culture and Psychiatry, and selected recordings of lectures from the 2008 NYU curriculum in Culture and Psychiatry, courtesy of the course lecturers.
