The NPHHI surveys offer insights into data collection practices at U.S. hospitals and provides important lessons to hospital leadership, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers about the potential to develop more systematic mechanisms to understand and address health disparities by utilizing the data collected from patients. Though the findings are specific to hospital practices, there are lessons for other sectors of the health care industry as well. The report was developed with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
